Competing in The Top Global Competition for Esports

This past weekend I competed in the biggest college event for valorant esports. This event is sponsored by Redbull, called Redbull Campus Clutch. This event is a global competition where teams across the world compete to be the best team in college. The competition is divided into stages where you play teams from your region, then the nearby winners of closer regions and, keep moving up the stage until you get to all teams globally. This blog will talk about the competition we played this week, the competition next week and last years competition.

Starting with last year, we ended up winning our region and moved onto the next stage. We had to play a series of local schools in the first qualifier including schools like Akron. Once we qualified for the next stage we were invited to play in Columbus with all expenses being paid for. We ended up traveling to Columbus where they paid for a 5 star hotel, rented a limo for travel, and fed us throughout the weekend. When we were traveling in the limo, it consisted of Rebull shofars with led lights and nice music. The dinner was amazing with VIP sections for the qualifiers and seats with our names on it. The competition ended at this qualifier with us coming short of first place, but amazing pictures and videos taken throughout the trip.

This past weekend didn't go the best with the team coming up a game short of qualifying. The team this year is the same except for one player. We ended up losing to West Virginia University who ended up making it far last year in the competition. The nice part about the Redbull Campus Clutch is how they have two weekends for qualifiers, so we aren't completely out of it. This next weekend won't have the teams who already qualified so this next week should be easier. The team is hopeful and putting in lots of work to make sure we qualify for the next stage.

Redbull Campus Clutch is such a cool competition to be apart of and i'm glad I get to share it with everyone. Wish the ONU team luck in qualifying next weekend. The competition will take place next Saturday, potentially live on the ONU twitch account. Thanks for reading and GO BEARS!
